MINI

2 TO 3 YEAR OLDS

Soccer Shots Mini is a high-energy program introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active.

Parent/guardian participation is required for Mini programs so group sizes are limited to six children per class. For health reasons, only one parent/guardian can participate with each child.

A NOTE ON HEALTH & SAFETY ON SOCCER ISLAND

Your child's health and safety is our #1 priority. That's why we've developed a series of protocols that allow for a safe return to play. We've been carefully working to meet every requirement of the Oregon Health Authority's guidance for our programs, as well as keeping up to date with State and local mandates, and continue to monitor all updates to the guidance to ensure we are up to date. We've modified many aspects of our operations and curriculum and will be asking you to make some modifications too.

As we return to the field, we'll be doing it together in these key ways:

SMALL GROUPS THAT DON'T MIX

The #1 thing we are doing to reduce risk is maintaining small groups of 12 or less. This means, all season long, your child will be playing with a maximum of 11 other players and not more than 2 coaches. Locations with multiple groups will not mix players. By maintaining what the state and CDC call a "stable cohort" everyone's risk drops dramatically.

CLEANING, SANITIZING & DISINFECTING

We'll be taking more steps than ever to ensure players, coaches and equipment are safe for play. This means we'll be washing and/or sanitizing equipment before, during and after each session. We'll be washing hands, before, during and after. We'll also be asking families that enroll to commit to coming "clean" and washing again after playing. Together, we can do this.

CURRICULUM ADJUSTMENTS

From increasing social distance, to removing all touch and high fives, our curriculum has been modified at a national level by experts we don't have direct access to here and then vetted and adjusted to ensure it meets all state and local guidelines.

TRUST & COMMUNICATION - FEVER OR COUGH? STAY HOME

It may or may not be COVID, but if a caregiver, a player or a coach develops a symptom that the Oregon Health Authority has flagged, we're not allowed to have you on the premises. This means we're all trusting each other.

COACH TRAINING, INFO & RULES

As role models who teach children to follow rules, we'll be following the rules of the Oregon Health Authority, and our national franchise system. To do that we've attended dozens of webinars and consulted with medical, sport, and governmental experts to put in place protocols that will be well above board and safe.

Together we can reduce the risk that in our programs and in our community while also starting to get so many of the emotional, social, psychological and physical benefits of Soccer Shots.

OREGON HEALTH AUTHORITY UPDATES

Effective July 24th, 2020 the OHA requires adults and children age 5 and up to wear face-coverings, and Soccer Shots is required to follow the mandate. Several elements of Soccer Shots programs allow participants to maintain at least 6-feet of space, like warm-ups, individual skills development, and some of our skills games. Our Coaching Team has reviewed all of our session activities to make sure Coaches are clearly communicating when face-coverings are required or can be removed. Help us keep Soccer Island safe and wear appropriate face coverings whenever attending a Soccer Shots program. Additionally, the OHA says "It is strongly recommended that children between two (2) and five (5) years of age, wear a mask, face covering or face shield at all times in all spaces to which this guidance applies, particularly in places where it is likely that physical distancing of at least six (6) feet from other individuals outside their household unit cannot be maintained, and where vulnerable people may go."
